It took almost a year for me to move into the suite. A few things held me back in the beginning. Brian still didnât want to sign any divorce papers and the fact weâd been legally separated for a year meant nothing. It was supposed to mean that the divorce would take no time, but he was contesting the hell out of it. So many times, I thought of telling him about Anthony, just so Brian would sign the divorce papers faster.
Another matter that stopped me from moving into the suite was the little secret I hid from Anthony. I wanted the divorce, but I was one hundred percent dependent on Brian. I hadnât worked in almost a decade, because he made enough to provide for the both of us. He worked overseas so much that heâd paid our house off in record time. What we used to pay in mortgage became my monthly stipend, something that didnât stop even after the legal separation began. I knew that most people wouldâve considered the fact that he continued to support me as strange, but I was unemployed and had no room to complain until I found myself a job, a hard thing to do.
Now that the arrangement of being a companion hadnât fallen through, I grew more than comfortable enough to leave and to tell Anthony the truth.
Living in the suite full time, well, it wasnât special, just⦠different. It took a while for me to get used to being there by myself. Half the time, it seemed as though I shouldnât be there. I noticed that Anthony came to the states more often after I decided to move into the suite, which proved my first theory of him coming for the sole purpose of seeing me. I didnât mind at all because it made me feel all warm and fuzzy, like heâd fallen in love with meâ¦
I stopped procrastinating and tried to move everything I had into the suite. My car could only hold so much and I didnât want to travel back and forth constantly so I made the trips whenever Anthony came into town. It puzzled Anthony why I hadnât moved all of my things into the suite over one weekend, but I had to remind him that I was a procrastinator extraordinaire. And, I hated driving through the downtown area and would avoid it as much as possible. All Anthony wanted was for me to move completely out of that house.
I was at home, mentally going over my list of things to do for the umpteenth time. Almost all my belongings were out of the house, so the only thing left was to pick between some minor items. I didnât need them, but I had a few sentimental things I wouldnât mind keeping.
As much as I hated talking to him, I needed to call Brian and let him know my plans. He would come back from overseas soon, and while it thrilled me to have him come home to a half empty house, it didnât sit right with me, not saying a word.
